Ghana and the IMF

This video was broadcast by the BBC as part of their Money Programme series.
For me, this is rather sad, as it represents the point at which Jerry Rawlings, who had installed himself at the head of Ghana government through the second of two coups by the army, capitulated to the forces of capitalism. Up to then, I felt he genuinely had the interests of Ghana and Ghanaians at heart. I can only assume that the IMF had become too powerful, insisting on their restructuring program, to the benefit of foreign capital, and detriment of prosperity for average Ghanaians.
